Tips to dress up for dandiya night

It was not so long ago when dandiya night was considered as a great pomp in the state of gujarat, but lately it has become a tradition in all parts of the country to celebrate the nine days festival of Navratri with joyful dancing up, rass Dandiya and Garbha.

If you are planning to go for a similar evening, then this a must read.

#1 The traditional ensemble 

The first and the foremost, ethnic wear for this occasion, i.e Chaniya choli heavily embellished with beads, mirror work, embroidery, and shells and so on. If you are someone who likes to to keep it traditional or don’t have much time in hand, this look will perfectly adorn you. They are usually in contrasting colours and with a dupatta and metal accessories.


#2 The distinctive one.

Don’t be scared to be the experimental one. You can style your outfit in various ways to look graceful and be the centre of attraction on the dance floor. It is nice to go a little further by combining the right effects of bandhani, leheriya or mirror work with your personal style which can give you beautiful outcomes. Just because it is a traditional night does not mean you have to be predictable. Take a break from the usual do and become slightly edgy. 

Whatever, style you choose, let your outfit express your joy and excitement through bright hues.

#3 The nuts and bolts.

The basic artefact of this attire is how you accessorise it.  A full set of traditional gujurati accessorise include a pair of earrings, stack of colourful bangles and also maang-teekas, kamarband and payal. Add a little metallic sparkle to your vibrant outfit. You can ditch the stereotype silver trinkets and try out multicolour, gold plated or pearl studded ornaments to add a little sparkle to your gorgeous attire.

P.s- May not be considered as an accessory but safety pins are the essential to secure your costume for avoiding any kind of wardrobe malfunction.


#4 Happy feet

The soul of these events are to actually enjoy the night with loads of dancing, which means wearing high heels will just invite unnecessary discomfort throughout. Choosing flats will be perfect, making the jutis and kolhapuris your best choice. Add a little bauble bauble to your feet with payal.


#5 The rouge affect

In contrary to what women generally believe, When in dandiya nights, there is such thing as “too much makeup”, as the sweat while dancing may cause your makeup to pile up on your face and build ugly cakes. The best face put forward is the flawless natural look with light base along rocking smokey eye effect and lifting up smile. If you still are a firm believer in the art by cosmetics, waterproof kit can always be your saviour.


#6 Ado the hairdo

These are the ultimate occasions for your hair to drench with sweat end with becoming extremely unmanageable if let loose. Play with a braid, bun or pouf and keep your hair fixed at place while your outfit does all the talking in grace.
